UNTV Cup 2: Malacañang-Patriots Holds First Win, Judiciary Magis Stays Solo Lead In The Tourney

Malacañang Patriots won their first victory in the tournament against Senate Defenders, 81-75, while, Season 1’s champ Judiciary Magis secured the solo lead in the weekly elimination round of UNTV Cup Season 2 on March 09 at the Meralco Gym.

Game 1: Senate Defenders vs Malacañang Patriots 

Malacañang Patriots fought a head-to-head battle against Senate Defenders in the end of the first half, 39-38, with the help of PSG Outside Shooter Rodney Daniel, Leo Sevilla, Marlon Berganio and the Best Player of the Game Gerry Gadong who have earned 12 points, 5 rebounds , 4 assists and 2 steals.

Senate Defenders’ ex-PBA players Zaldy Realubit and Kenneth Duremdes, together with Senator Sonny Angara tried to stop Team Malacañang’s drive. However, the Patriots sustained their unstoppable momentum and bagged their first win, still holding only 1 loss record. Senate Defenders, on the other hand, went down in the team rankings with 1-2 record.

Quarter Scores: 20-18, 38-39, 62-61, 75-81

Game 2: Judiciary Magis vs DOJ Avengers

DOJ Avengers showed off and set a big 9-pt lead during the half of the first quarter run, but, hard to beat Team Judiciary cut it to a 1-pt lead, 19-18.

A huge forceful rebound by Judiciary Magis completed the first half, 47-41.

Don “The Hammer” Camaso, John Hall and Best Player of the Game Joey Yabut led the game to a win as they continued to dominate the game until the end of the 2nd half, 101-96.

Judiciary Magis delayed DOJ Avengers first victory and took the solo 3-0 lead in the team standing.
