A Promise Kept for Charity – UNTV and MCGI to Hold Songs For Heroes 2

05/25/2015

Just after 103 days and more than 7 million pesos in donations, the Members Church of God International (MCGI) and UNTV 37 will once more take the stage to bring goodwill to the families of the Mamasapano tragedy’s fallen 44 — as promised.

The promise was first made by UNTV-BMPI CEO Daniel Razon during the first Songs for Heroes benefit concert held at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Arena on March 19, 2015.

“I think that it is not hard for us to continue to support, and to help all those in need, which is consistent with our advocacy, as Bro. Eli always tells us — ‘there is no good deed that will result in evil,'” remarked Mr. Razon during the Songs For Heroes concert.

The much-awaited Songs for Heroes 2 concert entitled “Ang Mamatay ng Dahil Sa’yo” (To Die for You) will take place on June 30, 2015.

Songs For Heroes 1 – A Call for Charity

Conceptualized by MCGI Overall Servant and Ang Dating Daan host Bro. Eliseo Soriano, the concert for a cause was birthed in Twitterlandia, when the international evangelist called for the nation’s support for the brave 44’s families and loved ones.

In less than a month from Bro. Eli’s first tweet regarding the concert, the first Songs for Heroes concert had been swiftly and successfully carried to completion.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) as well as local artists, songwriters, and performers rendered beautiful song and dance numbers that touched not just the hearts of the bereaved families, but the audiences as well.

A Helping Hand

The Songs for Heroes concert was able to produce PhP 6 million for the benefit of the PNP Special Assistance Fund, to be given to the families of the fallen 44.

And true to his tweet, Bro. Eli Soriano gave PhP 1 million for the bereaved loved ones of the soldiers who died fighting the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

He also gave Php 10,000.00 for each of the fallen 44’s families during the concert.

Aside from these, Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel also extended educational assistance to the children of the fallen 44 by giving them primary to tertiary education at the La Verdad Christian College, free of charge.

The Songs for Heroes 2 concert will once more showcase the united efforts of the PNP and the AFP, as well as several of the country’s top artists and thespians. Palanca award-winning writer/director Mr. Floy Quintos will be at the creative helm of the encore charity concert. (Contributed by Pol Arellano)
