12/09/2011
For seven years, the Golden Screen TV Awards of the Entertainment Press (ENPRESS) Society, Inc. honors only entertainment television shows, and when it decided to include recognitions for news programs and anchors, veteran Broadcast Journalist Daniel Razon received one of the pioneer awards.

On its 8th year, ENPRESS named Kuya Daniel the first-ever Outstanding Male News Presenter for his reporting in Ito ang Balita (This is News), the early evening newscast of UNTV. He outstood other veteran broadcasters from major Philippine television networks nominated for the same category such as Ted Failon, Noli de Castro, and Julius Babao of ABS-CBN, Mike Enriquez and Arnold Clavio of GMA-7, and Paolo Bediones of TV5.

The awards night was held on November 29 at the Teatrino at the Promenade in Greenhills, San Juan City. ENPRESS gave out at least 50 awards for both news and entertainment shows and personalities.

Kuya Daniel also received nominations for Outstanding Public Affairs Program Host and Outstanding Celebrity Talk Program Host. UNTV’s Sports 37 and KNC Show were nominated for Outstanding Educational Program, Ito ang Balita for Outstanding News Program, and its documentary, Climate Change: Ang mga Dapat Malaman ni Juan (Climate Change: Things John Ought to Know), for Outstanding Natural History/Wildlife Program.

Last year, Kuya Daniel also won as Best Male Newscaster in the 24th Star Awards for Television of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC). Besides his media excellence awards, Kuya Daniel is also known for his news advocacy Tulong Muna Bago Balita (Rescue First Before Reporting) that also reaps public service accolades.
