UNTV and MCGI Hold “Songs for Heroes” Concert for the Gallant 44 Families
UNTV, in joint effort with Members Church of God International (MCGI), is holding Songs for Heroes charity concert tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena to raise funds for the bereaved families of the 44 Special Action Force commandos and some civilians killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
The concert was conceived after Bro. Eli Soriano, Overall Servant to MCGI, backed President Noynoy Aquino against some religious leaders’ calling for PNoy to take responsibility of the Mamasapano incident and step down from office.
The televangelist called through Twitter for peace and order in the face of the Mamasapano controversy and instead provide help for the loved ones of the Gallant 44.
Supporting Bro. Eli’s cause, Kuya Daniel Razon expressed, “Gusto nating maging bahagi ng solusyon bilang mga mamamayan ng Pilipinas. (We want to be a part of the solution as citizens of the Philippines).”
Acclaimed Filipino song artists Noel Cabangon, Bo Cerrudo, Gerald Santos, and Neocolours will perform in the concert along with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chorales. Other performers include Faith Cuneta, Jay Durias of South Border, Shane Velasco, The Voysing, Bueno Sisters, and Bembe and Triposa Erese. A Song of Praise (ASOP) TV interpreters Jonalyn Viray and Beverly Caimen will also take the center stage for tonight’s charity event.
