In A Glimpse: Kuya’s Fruitful Year 2014
The year 2014 has come to a close, but the seeds of good works planted throughout continue to sprout and grow one by one. A fruitful year full of giving and sharing and blessings to many—this is what Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon’s advocacies had made 2014.
Kuya Daniel’s numerous projects launched through UNTV were of big help to lessen various societal concerns including those regarding financial, legal, health, and transportation. By the end of the year, the Chairman and CEO of Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI) has received numerous recognitions for his untiring service to the public as well as for bringing on TV and radio shows that are sensible to both older and younger generations.
In December, Kuya Daniel was honored with a Makabata Star Award from Anak TV for being a child-friendly celebrity.
10th Anniversary of the Public Service Channel
“UNTV Big 10: Bigger, Better, Broader.” This was the theme for UNTV’s 10th anniversary celebrated in June. As part of the commemoration, the channel held its first ever “UNTV Rescue Summit” at World Trade Center where various rescue groups from the government and private organizations came to support. Also, a benefit concert for the elderly was held with performances by stars including Sheryl Cruz, Juris, and the 70’s rock band vocalist, Coritha.
Pioneered in the Philippines by Kuya Daniel and first seen in broadcast during the coverage of Typhoon Haiyan, UNTV’s Drone Journalism was made stronger during the station’s 10th anniversary. With more than 10 drones equipped and ready to be deployed for the benefit of better service to people, there has been none like it in the history of Philippine broadcasting. UNTV later also announced that it is on the way to produce rescue drones for more effective rescue response during calamities.
Thirty One Years of Hope
Year 2014 was also Kuya Daniel’s 31st year of service to God – three decades and a year of public service and of giving hope to fellowmen. Kuya Daniel celebrated with a “Double” concert with his uncle and mentor, Bro. Eli Soriano, at the Manila Hotel last November. The concert-for-a-cause benefited the various public services of the broadcast journalist.
Kuya Daniel’s advocacies through UNTV inevitably grew and flourished. We witnessed the success and continuity of his charitable programs such as the transient homes, free rides, healthcare assistance, free education, and a lot more.
UNTV Action Center closed 2014 with 10 People’s Day events in different communities and towns in the Philippines offering the largest free medical missions, legal assistance, and other public services. The UNTV Cup also rolled out its 3rd season in November with higher prices for the champ and runners-up’s charity foundations.
Remaining true to his words, all that Kuya Daniel asks is, “Wag lang sana akong iwanan ng nasa taas, pagka mayroon kang Dios sa buhay meron ka na ng lahat. (I so hope that the One above never leaves me, for if you have God in your life, then you have everything.)”
