UNTV Cup Games on March 9 Feature Double Hardcourt Showdown

Meralco Gym (March 7, 2014) – Senate-Defenders squad and Malacañang-Patriots will slug it out during the first game of the weekly elimination round of UNTV Cup Season 2 on March 9 this year, at 3 p.m. at the Meralco Gym.

After losing its bid versus Philhealth Advocates last week, Team Senate’s record went down to 1-1.

Senate Defenders  head coach Lino Ong stressed what his team needs: more adjustments to further strengthen their campaign this season of the country’s first public service basketball tournament with no less than key government agencies joining as participants.

“Malaking adjustment ang gagawin namin in terms of as a team and as a player”, Ong said. (We will make big adjustment in terms of as a team and as a player.)

Moreover, Team Senate aims to maximize the strengths of its assets: Senate’s two ex-PBA players Zaldy Realubit and Kenneth Duremdez.

The Sunday’s game will also be an attempt and opportunity for Team Malacañang to recover from its  previous loss. The team’s current record shows 0-1.

Second game fight will feature DOJ-Avengers and Season 1 champ, Judiciary-Magis.

DOJ Avengers  will bid for a win after losing in its first encounter with AFP-Cavaliers last February 23, giving the former a 0-1 record in the team rankings.

However, Team Magis remains a hard team to beat, an edge backed by two wins with no losses.

Team Magis’ wins were helped by the magnificent trio of Don Camaso, Ariel Capus and John Hall who showcased their respective shooting abilities and intense defense skills.

UNTV Cup Season 2 games will air live over UNTV 37 and through the free live webstreaming of UNTVweb.com.

During the games, the UNTV Action Center will once again be available, wherein representatives from the 10 participating teams will open and man their respective booths to answer queries and extend service to the public.  (Carmi  Tongol – Anecito)
