2 Original Songs of Daniel Razon Inspire Concert Audience, Album to be Released Soon
Two original compositions of Daniel Razon inspired roughly 20,000 people during the album pre-launch of the “A Song of Praise Music Festival (ASOP) The Concert” at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on August 22.
Relating his heart’s prayer and hope to the Almighty One, Razon performed “Pag-asa ng Puso” (My Heart’s Hope) that made the Big Dome a firefly hub as the crowd sang with him while waving their lighted mobile phones in the air.
His other piece “Alay Sa’Yo,” (My Offering to You) a seemingly love song, was created as a gospel song. “It is really intended for God… it tells a lot of things, it speaks about the goodness of God,” Razon explained in a recorded video. Jed Madela, known as “The Voice” in the Philippine music industry, interpreted the song.
Besides Razon’s masterpieces, 11 other songs of praises are included in the album arranged by veteran composer Vehnee Saturno and performed by the country’s finest performers including Roselle Nava, Bituin Escalante, Frenchie Dy, Jinky Vidal of Freestyle, Gerald Santos, and Almira Cercado of the Cercado Sisters.
All 11 compositions are original and grand winners of the A Song of Praise Songwriting Competition held by the Members Church of God International. The contest started in 2004 as an annual event, but in 2008 it turned twice a year. Bro. Eli Soriano, Presiding Minister to MCGI, launched the initiative and proposed to bring the contest on television.
Razon, who is UNTV CEO, personally invited aspiring songwriters to join, “Nag-iimbita tayo na sumali sila doon sa ASOP Music Festival on TV na magsisimula na sa September 4, every Sunday yan sa UN Television (We are inviting them to join ASOP Music Festival on TV that will start on September 4, every Sunday on UN Television).” ASOP TV will be aired from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Philippine Time. More than one million pesos awaits the winners. The show is hosted by host-comedienne Toni Rose Gayda and singer-actor Richard Reynoso.
Razon started his music career in 2007 with his debut album All My Life. The album made a gold record the same day it was released, a history in Philippine music. In 2009, he released his second album Isang Araw Lang featuring some modern OPM classics like Forevermore and Hold On. His other albums already out in record bars include Test Broadcast 1 and 2 and Protest Broadcast 3. Razon was voted people’s favorite New Male Artist in the 21st Awit Awards.
The A Song of Praise album is scheduled for release in September under Universal Records. – Hazel Chavez
