Kuya Daniel’s 26 years in public service: A peculiar celebration
It was not a typical celebration. Kuya Daniel Razon’s celebration of his fruitful 26 years in public service confirmed even more his title Mr. Public Service.
For his 26th-year as a public servant, Kuya Daniel chooses to have a charity event, Up Close, that benefited the Movie Writers’ Welfare Foundation (MWWF) headed by Ms. Emy Abuan. The exclusive one night gathering also highlighted the launching of his new coffee table book, Wild and the awarding of his platinum record album, Isang Araw Lang.
Proceeds of Up Close will also be used to augment the financial needs of his free daily public services, including the soon-to-rise free college, the La Verdad Christian College.
“Nakakawala ng pagod,” Mr. Public Service’s first few words after seeing the warm greetings from the crowd last November 30, 2009 at the Palacio de Maynila, Malate, Manila. With all his public service works on and off the camera, it was a relief to hear Kuya Daniel say those words.
The venue was filled with his supporters who were all elated to see him that night in his casual white polo. His beautiful wife Arlene Razon, creative director of Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International Inc., was also seen in the crowd wearing a long white top. She joins her husband on stage as he sang Isang Araw Lang and after that bid him with a kiss, which made the crowd ecstatic.
Comedian Roderick Paulate, one of Kuya’s closest friends, surprised him and went to the celebration to greet him personally despite his other commitments as a running public official. Greetings from his family were shown in a video presentation hosted by the comedian.
The testimonials of how incredible a man of God Kuya Daniel is, overflowed that night.
The international televangelist, Bro. Eli Soriano of The Old Path (Ang Dating Daan) testified how Kuya Daniel is as a son. “I thank God that I have a son. I saw in him a good conscience. What I can say about the Isang Araw Lang (Just One Day) campaign, it’s an eye opener to men how much they can do for 30 days, for 365 days, more so a lifetime of doing good. We can do greater things for a lifetime.”
Because of his campaign, broadcaster Willie Espiritu didn’t smoke for a time, which resulted to his feeding the 500-800 kids after summarizing all the expenses he incurred from smoking in a year. Kuya Daniel advised him in a light manner to continue resisting the temptation of smoking. The crowd laughs as if concurring to Kuya’s advice.
“Yung puso namin, tinuruan mong maging mabuti,” Espiritu expressed.
Kuya Daniel is thankful to God for his 26 years in service to humanity. Before the celebration ended, he blew the candle on his three layered cake marking another blessed day of selfless service.
